Memorandum of Understanding Signed between CSRC and KIAS

On February 11, 2011, the Director of the Beijing Computational Science Research Center (CSRC), Prof. Hai-Qing Lin, and the Director of the Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS), Prof. Doochul Kim, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for academic exchange and collaboration between the two institutions in Seoul, Korea. The MOU scored two firsts: the first for CSRC with a foreign institution and the first for KIAS with a Chinese institution.

The CSRC delegation, Prof. Hai-Qing Lin and Prof. Lei-Han Tang, was warmly received by the KIAS colleagues. During the visit, the two sides shared information about their respective background, current operation, and future developmental plans. KIAS was founded fifteen years ago by the Korean government to be an elite institution in theoretical science in Korea. It currently has three schools: Mathematics, Physics, and Computational Sciences. In addition to pursuit of excellence in basic research, the KIAS runs an active outreach education program to attract high school students to scientific research. The KIAS experience will prove to be invaluable in the growth and development of the young CSRC.
