Inelastic Thermoelectricity: A New Light of an Old Field

A new field, inelastic thermoelectricity is emerging during the past years. The basic ideas, guiding principles and elementary physical pictures of this field will be illustrated. Fundamental models will be introduced where the merits of inelastic thermoelectricity will be elucidated. Several unique physical effects of inelastic thermoelectric transport that cannot be realized in elastic transport are revealed. The underlying physics show new universality in quantum transport that has been long ignored. These effects give new paradigms and opportunities for moving heat and charge control and thermoelectric energy conversion into a new era. 

About the Speaker

中国科学技术大学本科、硕博连读博士。先后在以色列 Weizmann研究所和加拿大多伦多大学从事博士后研究近5年。期间先后师从介观物理创始人YosephImry教授 (2016年沃尔夫物理奖得主)和光子晶体创始人Sajeev John教授 (诺贝尔奖提名)。2015年被苏州大学引进回国,现任物理学院教授。兼职包括: 多伦多大学和Weizmann 研究所访问教授, 中国统计物理会议组委会成员; 物理学报和Chinese Physics B青年编辑, 国际电磁进展会议PIERS会议分会主席和组织者。
