A preliminary study of the theoretic analysis of the spectral volume method for hyperbolic equations

Abstract

In this talk, we shall present our very recent study on the theoretic analysis of the spectral volume method for hyperbolic equations. First, we will recall some theoretic tools developed in our recent analysis of high order finite volume methods for elliptic equations. Secondly, we will apply the previous tools to analyze the spectral volume method for the linear 1D scalar hyperbolic equation. Finally, we will present the L2 norm optimal order convergence and superconvergence of SV method for the linear 1D scalar hyperbolic equation. This talk is based on a joint work with Waixiang Cao at Beijing  Normal University.

About the Speaker

邹青松,现为中山大学计算机学院教授,数据科学系主任。曾于2001到2003年在美国西弗吉尼亚大学(West Virginia University)从事博士后研究工作,并于2007年至2009年在德国柏林自由大学做洪堡学者。长期从事高阶有限体积法理论和应用研究。在《SIAM J. Numer. Anal.》、《Numerische Mathemtics》和《Math. Comp.》等国际计算数学学术期刊上发表学术论文50余篇。目前担任广东省计算数学学会理事长。期刊《International Journal of Numerical Analysis and Modelling》编委。
